Well there hasn't been any update because there haven't been any important fix to apply or affecting the game, only client mods are being added lately on newserv.
As for the events theres no summer event because the server will be moved to a new host soon along with other games so we are running in automatic mode for the time being.
Hi Rinale. All good? I noticed that there were no more updates, nor the summer event. I'm not charging anything, just sending a test 'hi'. XD

When the loader was created we wanted a way to make it start without touching the main executables unlike other servers (and for preservation purposes allowing you to keep an untouched copy of the game at all times) took a lot of trial and error so for simplicity Windows 10/11 were the main targets to allow us to actually start the game.
On top of being the most mainstream at the time, remember the point of the server is to allow the most amount of people to come and play so makes sense to target the most mainstream OS.
For more specific setups like a retrobuild or proper linux compat more refinements needs to be done to the loader, Repflez is aware of all these issues, but if you have any further questions you can visit his repo of the project at https://github.com/Repflez/AzureFlare you can also check the source and if you feel confident in a solution you can also send a pull request and discuss it all over there, there's a ticket for brainstorming ideas to improve the loader :)
I dunno about that compatibility issue that you're talking about with Windows 98. I installed over there and I can see the menu fine, running in 16 bit, so honestly if I could run the game over there as well that would be a huge change, besides I connected to SCHTHACK using PSOv2 in a Windows 98 environment, so that was very impressive and I still can play the game over there (SCHTHACK is the only server able to connect on 98 as far as I can tell), if they did it somehow, I don't think It's impossible to be able to connect on BB as well. Either way, about the release I prefer to wait, I have no rush since SCHTHACK also exists for BB, but like you don't find it a bit weird running a 2001 game in a modern machine? I don't feel It's as impressive as running a game in an old machine, I dunno, maybe that's just me....
Also I wanted to recommend using Xfire: https://www.xf1re.com (It's another community revival project specifically for tracking games, old at this point). I would tell about it if you joined my Teamspeak server, but either way. It doesn't have Japanese language for the site yet, but It does as a client and the client supports Blue Burst as well so It's worth it to at least check it up... I have some what connection with the development team behind it and while fixing Xfire detection with PSOBB I mentioned your PSOBB server, while fixing the code.
Thank you for comin Shack, while PSOBB is a Windows XP era game it works best with Windows NT so 2000 and XP, it never really ran properly on Windows 9x.
The situation you are facing is because the loader we are using which is AzureFlare is compiled to only work on Windows 10 and beyond so it sadly locks out Windows XP,Vista,7 users out due to higher compatibility target and implementation.
The author of the patch is a good friend of mine and hes aware of it as I already reported these issues, ideally we would love to have the same level of comatibility as the client itself (XP) but its still a work in progress.
I'm a huge retro computer fan and is one of my goals to be able to let XP users enjoy the game too in a cool retro PC build but In the meantime give it a try on Linux under Wine or in a VM with Windows10/11 with GPU passtrhouh.
I hope you liked the server setup tho it's a matter of time when the new patch becomes available rest assured I will update it on the Files Area too :)
I found the server today and I liked the text explaining the whys. I tried to download the game, because the whole promise about vanilla and stuff and then I decided to give it a try on Windows Vista for start and then It gives me an error about an instruction only available on Windows 7, so I was thinking "great, can't install on Windows 98, which officially was compatible with, I already tested and it could run, but launchers from other servers really doesn't make me able to join from that machine, since most launchers require framework 3.5 or 4, which only XP had that. And then, on Github I saw the issue of not working on XP, because a DLL wasn't fixed still since 2024. I would love to test stuff out, especially because I have an actual Windows 98 to Windows Vista. Not sure if the plan is to make compatible with every system that was officially compatible in the past, but we can talk more about it if you want. So if you don't mind, I invite you to join my Teamspeak 3 server so we can talk for the matter.
Glad to see you back!, cant believe it has been a year already the time flies a lot!!, yet I was playing with Bunbun the other day and got to lv30, don't worry for the levels we are still low level. We are playing very very relaxed, in fact I was thinking in rerolling as a RAcaseal...
I've been very very busy setting up the next server project too so its all kinda taking a lot of dedication lately...
